I am back to boating, golf, my work with Seniors and anything else I choose to do with no reservation. I recently had my follow-up 6 month CT scan and all is well. He had done thousands of these operations and mine was so successful, I didn't have to have chemo or radiation! 6 weeks later I returned to work with a bag hanging on my side and all is well. My doctor took the entire bag with the bladder, prostrate and a few nodes, all in one extraction. (I was never so glad to get rid of anything before in my life)Īfter discovering that the cancer hadn't made it through the bag of fat it lives in, It was decided the bladder needed to come out. That was done with my lights out and when I awoke, I had a catheter, which I wore for a week. Next came the scraping of the inside of my bladder to see how advanced it had become. The procedure sounds hideous but didn't hurt at all. He immediately did the cysto and we were both looking at the mass that had been developing around one of my ureters. Then one day I peed what looked like cranberry juice and called the doctor. I started with a few drips of blood after I peed and ignored it for about 3 months. I agree with those who suggested you get a cystoscopy ASAP. P.S Forgot to mention - all other tests (blood work, rest of urine) is normal. I think, that knowing the history, the docs will again recommend antibiotics and tests in a month or so. This time I did my research on-line and got worried.I have an appointment with the PCP in a few days and with the urologist in 2 weeks, should I insist on more radical tests ? From what I read, the routine urine test isn't even the right test and microscopic test needed to confirm the hematuria. ![]() ![]() Then in 2014, I had it again.and the same story repeated itself - all the tests (4 or 5) between 20 came back negative. I looked up my historical records (the provider now has them all on line), and noticed that had similar "blood" episode in 2009, the PCP and urolgist at the time recommended antibiotics and repeat tests, and all the test betweeh 20 were negative then. I have a history of prostatatis from the age of 20 or so, that flares up every year or couple years and then goes away with antibiotics. There is no visible blood in my urine, and I don't have any other symptoms. Last Friday, the routine annual urine test came back with "Small Amount of Blood".that freaked me out. I am a 51 year old male, generally healthy.
